GDC Award 2019 jury panel will consist of 15 professionals with global influences. They will evaluate all eligible works on-site and select award-winning ones. The selection process will be fully subject to the jury panel to reach the most authoritative judgment.
Bruce Duckworth is a designer. He is the Co-Chairman of Turner Duckworth, the award-winning international brand identity design firm he founded with David Turner in 1992 in London and San Francisco, and opened in New York 2016. Bruce graduated from Kingston Polytechnic with an Honours Degree in Graphic Design in 1985. He started his career as a designer at Michael Peters & Partners then Minale Tattersfield and Lewis Moberly before setting up Turner Duckworth in 1992.
The company employs around 100 people of which 80 are designers. The studios work collaboratively on most projects and the company has achieved an international reputation for design excellence. Working with some of the most culturally significant brands in the world from Amazon, Coca Cola and Samsung and entrepreneurial brands such as Elemis and the band Metallica.
Bruce has won over 500 design awards including D&AD Yellow pencils, DBA Design Effectiveness awards, Design Week Best of Show, the inaugural Cannes Design Lions Grand Prix, the first ever design accepted in the Clio Hall of Fame and a Grammy award amongst others. His work and opinions have been published in many design books and magazines all over the world. Bruce is in demand as a speaker for Design and Marketing conferences giving keynote speeches around the world from Seoul to Mumbai to Barcelona. Bruce has always had a keen interest in Design education and often lectures at design universities and has been an external examiner at Falmouth University and Somerset College of Art and Design. He is an honorary fellow of Falmouth University.
Bruce has judged for most of the international design awards competitions including Foreman of judges at D&AD and President of the Cannes Lions design jury. He has been on the executive committee and management board of D&AD for six years, culminating in being president of D&AD from 2016 – 2017 and is a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.
The Drum Magazine named Bruce as one of the top twenty most influential and talented UK designers in 2014 and Creativity Magazine named Bruce as one of America's fifty most creative people.
He has won the 6th National Art Exhibition Gold Medal, the 8th China Film Art Golden Rooster Award, the 18th Brno International Graphic Design Exhibition Chairman's Award, and the 9th National Art Exhibition Silver Award.

He has been at R/GA for 5 years and leads the Nike and Jordan account. With a background in advertising and visual design, he has led some of the agency’s top, winningest work in the past year.
At R/GA, Gabriel fuses seemingly disparate disciplines into cohesive craft, often incorporating his sports and sneaker obsessions to create work at the forefront of culture. In the past year, his work on A/R Jordan brought Nike, same-day shipping company Darkstore, R/GA Ventures partner company, Shopify, and Snapchat together for a first-of-its-kind interactive, social, ecommerce experience. The work was commended as best-in-class by industry leaders and press, and has swept award shows as an innovative use of technology, including five Cannes Lions, one Grand Clio, two Clio, and accolades at D&AD and One Show.
He also led Hey Google, Ask Nike, which utilized Google Assistant and voice partner, Rain for a never before done, real-time, voice-activated sneaker drop during a live NBA game. It provided exclusive pre-release access to win or purchase the Nike Adapt BB auto-lacing sneakers and pioneered a new area for voice-activated commerce.
Macao designer and brand consultant, Hong Chong Ip founded MO-DESIGN with partner Chao Sio Leong in 2010. With professional and creative merits on branding consultation through visual identity and spatial design. MO-DESIGN is the first Chinese design company invited by Tokyo Type Directors Club (TDC) to be the chief designer of the overall visual identity of the Design Awards held in Tokyo and Osaka in 2010. Born 1975 in Tokyo. With a focus on company and product branding, Shogo works extensively with logos, packaging and sign designs. His major works in recent years include art direction for KIRIN Home Tap and KASHIYAMA the Smart Tailor, package design for Lotte ZERO, map design for Odakyu Line, Doraemon sign design for Noborito station, etc.
He won a number of awards at home and abroad, including D&AD, Cannes Lions Design Awards, One Show, Design for Asia Awards, ADC, SDA, JAGDA New Design Award and JAGDA Package Award.
He became a judge for D&AD Design Award in 2016, and for Good Design Award in 2017.He is also an Associate Professor at Tokyo Polytechnic University for Design.

Her major works include Arashi Exhibition “JOURNEY”, commercial for Orbis “DEFENCERA” and a lingerie brand “PEACH JOHN”, teaching material design for Benesse Children Challenge Baby, commercial direction for Softbank’s “PANTONE 6” and campaign “TBS6Chen!”, fashion advertisements for PARCO and Laforet Harajuku, designing photobook “Yuka Gravure & Body”, and artworks for CHARA, Kaela Kimura and other musicians. .
She won many awards include British D&AD Gold Award, Spikes Asia Gold Award and Silver Award, Good Design Award, Kids Design Award, International Andy Award Silver Award, JAGDA Award, JAGDA Newcomers Award, Hitotsubo Grand Prix, Taro Okamoto Award for Excellence in Contemporary Art, the 4th place for LIBRO Picture Book Grand Prize and many others.
She also works as a part-time teacher at School of Cultural and Creative Studies at Aoyama Gakuin University.
He was born in Chiba Prefecture in 1974. He completed the Master’s program at the Tokyo University of the Arts in 2003. Now he heads the Irobe Design Institute, Nippon Design Center Inc., and is a part-time lecturer at the Tokyo University of the Arts. His major works include visual identity (VI) and signage planning for the Ichihara Lakeside Museum and the Tenri Station Plaza CoFuFun, branding for Osaka Metro, and design direction for the Naka-Boso International Art Festival (Ichihara Art x Mix). He undertakes design work across a broad spectrum, applying his graphic design techniques with his editorial perspective, from two- and three-dimensional graphics to spatial design such as the product package design for HAKUTSURU SAKE Brewing Co., Ltd. He pursues excellence and enhancement of the quality and functionality of information design in public spaces through diverse projects such as the TOKYO PROJECT. He has won numerous design awards both in Japan and abroad, including awards from the Tokyo Art Directors Club (ADC), Japan Graphic Designers Association (JAGDA), Japan Sign Design Association (SDA), One Show Design, and British Design and Art Direction (D&AD). He serves as a member of the design awards jury for the Good Design Awards, ADC Awards, Design Excellence Awards, D&AD Awards and others and as a lecturer in the design workshop at the Meguro Museum of Art, Tokyo. Sebastian Bissinger studied from 1993 to 2000 graphic design at the University of the Arts Bremen with Prof. Eckhard Jung. During his studies he gained experience in workshops with David Carson, Axel Kufus and Fred Frith. As part of his diploma he planned, filmed and realised the promotional video for the Dutch design heroes Studio Dumbar. He won the ‘Certificate of Typographic Excellence’ of the Type Directors Club New York with the 512-pages UNESCO-book ‘Kultur des Friedens’. After a three-month-stay in New York he moved to Berlin in 2002 and co-founded BANK™ in 2004.

Foreign Policy Design Group is a design and innovation consultancy based out of the tropical island of Singapore. She also co-created the official museum store Gallery & Co at the National Gallery Singapore. Yah-Leng was formally trained at the Art Institute of Boston before moving to New York City where her creative career blossomed. In 2007, she moved back to her hometown of Singapore where she co-founded Foreign Policy Design Group. Her works have been also recognized and honored by prestigious awards, accolades and publications. Yah-Leng is the current President of The Design Society Singapore and she had sat on the advisory board of the Temasek School of Design Singapore. She has also often been invited to speak and judge at festivals, conferences and institutions globally. Yah-Leng was named one of The Disrupters and Industry Leaders in 2017 and 2018 respectively on The Tatler 300 List by Singapore Tatler. She has recently been inducted as a AGI(Alliance Graphique Internationale) member.

Jang Sunghwan majored in visual communication design at Hongik University and received
a master's degree from Hongik Industrial art Graduate School. Since then, he has worked on various design activities such as making magazine design better and fonts in Korean Reader's Digest Magazine. After moving to Yonhap News Agency, he made the graphic news team which is first in Korea. He established the foundation of Korea graphic news by interacting with famous international graphic news agency.
In Dong-a Ilbo, he worked as an art director for various magazines. For example, magazines such as <Weekly Dong-a>, <Shin Dong-a> and <Science Dong-a>.
Especially in <Science Dong-a>, he designed various scientific information graphics designs. He has founded <203X Design Studio> in 2003 and been publishing <Street H> Magazine in front of Hongik University along with various graphic & editorial designs. In 2009, he established the <203XInfographics Lab> and is working on expanding the field of information design in Korea.
