HanWenZhengKai is a type of Regular Script developed in the 1930s by Zheng Wuchang (1894-1952) aimed at creating a unique Chinese print culture that could both embody the spirit of the new era and retain traditional culture. It stands as one of the representative fonts of the Sinosphere.In 2016, Founder Font began its journey towards digitization. Building on a detailed examination of HanWenZhengKai’s historical footprints, a comprehensive collection of HanWenZhengKai samples and printed materials was amassed through various channels. After meticulous sorting, comparison, and analysis, the design objectives and concepts were established, paving the way for the digital replication process. Through six years of digital replication and redesign, HanWenZhengKai has been re-introduced with a fresh appearance fit for modern computer font libraries.This manual presents the outcomes of the digital replication of HanWenZhengKai. It is structured into five major sections: 1) A concise overview of HanWenZhengKai's two-decade journey; 2) An exploration of the typeface's evolution, dissemination, influence, and redesign, celebrating its 90th anniversary; 3) Sample text applications; 4) Insights into Layout and styling; 5) the Redesign of HanWenZhengKai. Throughout the manual, all the design concepts, layout design, and application highlight the aesthetic beauty of Founder Font’s HanWenZhengKai.
