Mangkhut project

Background :On September 7, 2018, a super typhoon mangosteen formed on the surface of the Pacific Northwest Ocean. The maximum wind force is above 17 and the diameter covers 1000 kilometers. The cloud system covers almost the entire Pacific Northwest. After the raging wind, a gobble left. The fallen trees in the streets are the most striking footprint of mangosteen in the city.

Insight: Trees are friends of human beings, and are the closest nature to human beings. We use piles of broken branches and stumps as a creative language to respond to nature and re-examine the relationship between man and nature.

Carried out:We launched a public art project of the Mangosteen Project to recycle fallen trees and use the power of product design to allow broken wood to be reborn as a chair. Broken wood has become a creative symbol, recording the evolution of the relationship between people and trees before and after the typhoon: from the neighbor of the tree, people in the typhoon struggled to possess the tree, someone carried the broken wood, and people rested on the broken wood chair. The broken wood symbol gives rise to an overall vision, a bright and moving image, which is in contrast to the damage caused by the typhoon, allowing people to see the optimism of the city's rebirth.

Result :Mangosteen plans to make the broken wood return to urban public space as a chair and enter the public vision, which arouses people's resonance and is widely praised.
